Between July and August 2026, the UK Ningxia Business Association visited Ningxia’s Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Federation of Industry and Commerce. The Association introduced its background, mission and future plans. Discussions focused on supporting the Ningxia community in the UK, helping Ningxia businesses explore overseas markets, and strengthening links between the two regions. All four organisations welcomed the Association’s aims and expressed strong support for its work.
On international business development, the meetings explored how the Association’s UK contacts and networks could help Ningxia companies better understand local market conditions, consumer demand and market entry requirements. Discussions covered Ningxia’s wine, goji berry, cashmere and cultural tourism sectors, including potential introductions to UK buyers and distribution partners, brand promotion, trade fair participation and business visits. The aim is to provide relevant information and connections for companies considering expansion into UK and European markets.
Future plans discussed included maintaining regular communication, gathering business needs and encouraging visits in both directions. The Association hopes to develop industry discussions, product showcases and business introductions based on the practical needs of Ningxia companies. It also aims to introduce UK businesses and professional organisations to Ningxia’s industries and opportunities for cooperation.
The meetings also considered ways to bring together the overseas Ningxia community, encourage exchanges among young people and professionals, and promote Ningxia’s culture. Cultural events, talks and exchange visits were discussed as possible ways for people from Ningxia living in the UK to stay connected and contribute to their home region’s development.
These visits strengthened the Association’s relationships with organisations in Ningxia and helped identify priorities for future work. The Association will follow up on the suggestions and needs raised, working towards practical projects that support business and cultural exchange between Ningxia and the UK.
